My opinion : 

The story follows a protagonist who finds herself at a major crossroads in life, navigating grief and an unexpected inheritance that leads her across the Atlantic to the coastal village of Lyngør, Norway. Unprepared for island life and carrying the weight of guarded personal struggles, she is drawn into uncovering the truth about her maternal roots and family history. As she adjusts to the quiet rhythm of the archipelago, she forms connections with the warm, resilient locals and finds an undeniable spark with a man whose presence offers both comfort and an emotional challenge she isn’t sure she’s ready for.

What I loved most about this book was the rich, immersive sense of place. Kimbra Drake does a magnificent job bringing the beauty of coastal Norway to life, from the sparkling water and wooden boat-lined docks to the cozy Scandinavian warmth of everyday island life. The protagonist’s journey of self-discovery and emotional healing felt gentle, grounded, and earned. The slow-burn romance was tender and sweet, complementing her personal transformation rather than overshadowing it.

On a minor note, the pacing in the middle of the book slowed down quite a bit as the focus shifted deeply into daily island routines and introspective moments. While the atmospheric details were lovely, a few scenes felt slightly drawn out, and I would have loved just a little more momentum in unraveling the family mystery in the earlier chapters.

Overall, Where the Heart Meets the Sea is a heartwarming, beautifully written novel about fresh starts, the healing power of community, and the courage it takes to open your heart again. It is an evocative armchair getaway that will appeal to anyone who enjoys emotional women’s fiction and gentle coastal romance.
