What makes the story work so effectively is the magnetic dynamic between Dani Walsh and Luke Thorne. Dani is intelligent, resolute, and refreshingly capable under pressure, bringing genuine emotional authenticity and technical expertise to the investigation. Luke serves as the perfect protector counterpart, offering steady strength and quiet loyalty without ever diminishing Dani’s independence.
